Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in the provinces of Zabul, Takhar, Ghazni, and Paktika ensured the provision of women’s rights and worked to prevent harmful practices in this regard.
As a result, 25 women who had been facing difficulties due to harmful traditional customs and had been deprived of their Sh/ar/ia rights were granted their legitimate rights. According to the inspectors (Muhtasibs), these women, who had been subjected to domestic violence, denial of financial support (Nafaqah), psychological and physical abuse, and other similar harmful incidents, were rescued through the efforts of the inspectors.
The inspectors further stated that they are fully committed to ensuring women receive their Sh/ar/ia rights and will not allow anyone to violate or deny these rights.
It is worth mentioning that the inspectors of this ministry, across the country, have addressed thousands of different cases related to women’s rights, including cases of inheritance, domestic violence, excessive bride price (walwar), forced marriages used for dispute settlement (Baad), and non-Sh/ar/ia marriages, all of which have been resolved.
