Four Women Freed from Forced Marriages through the Efforts of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue Personnel
In continuation of the efforts by the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, to protect the Sh/ar/ia based rights of women and prevent forced marriages, four women in the provinces of Khost, Sar-e Pol, and Ghor were rescued from forced marriages.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry in the aforementioned provinces stated that these cases were investigated after receiving complaints from the affected women.
The Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) held reformative, advisory, and awareness raising sessions, encouraging families to observe Is/la/mic principles, protect the legitimate rights of women, and respect the principle of mutual consent in marriage.
As a result, four cases of forced marriage were successfully prevented.
The Ministry's officials (Muhtasibs) in these provinces further stated that its inspectors remain committed to safeguarding the legitimate rights of citizens particularly women in accordance with the principles of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia.
They also emphasized that the Ministry seeks to resolve social and family disputes through peaceful and reform-oriented approaches.
The Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) called on citizens to report cases involving forced marriage, dowry, inheritance, and other violations to the relevant provincial directorates and district offices of the Ministry so that they may be addressed in accordance with the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia.
