Freedom for 22 Women from Family Oppression and the Pursuit of 26 Sharia Cases in 11 Provinces

Officials )Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints, as part of their continued efforts to address public complaints and ensure people’s Sharia-based rights, have handled 26 Sharia-related cases involving women in the areas of dowry, inheritance, and alimony, and have facilitated the release of 22 women from family oppression and abuse.

These cases were reviewed and followed up after affected women submitted and registered their complaints in the provinces of Nangarhar, Ghor, Baghlan, Ghazni, Takhar, Balkh, Farah, Zabul, Badakhshan, Nuristan, and Maidan Wardak.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in these provinces said that the cases were addressed in accordance with Islamic Sharia rulings and the principles of reconciliation between disputing parties.

Necessary measures were taken to address family oppression and abuse and to ensure women’s Sharia-based rights.

As a result of these efforts, 22 women were freed from difficult circumstances and family oppression and abuse, while 26 cases concerning women’s Sharia-based rights in the areas of dowry, inheritance, and alimony were addressed.

Ministry officials (Muhtasibs) added that resolving family disputes and ensuring the Sharia-based rights of those involved, in accordance with Islamic Sharia rulings, were among the matters taken into consideration while addressing these cases.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints also emphasized their continued commitment to addressing public complaints and working to resolve Sharia-related cases in accordance with Islamic Sharia rulings, ensure justice, and promote reconciliation between the parties to disputes.
