Handling of seven Sh.ar.ia related cases concerning women, including inheritance, dowry, and alimony, in Zabul and Laghman provinces
Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints, through its officials (Muhtasibs) in Zabul and Laghman provinces, has demonstrated commitment to women’s rights.
In an effort to prevent harmful practices and negative traditions, they have ensured that seven women who had been deprived of their legitimate rights due to such customs, have now received their rightful entitlements.
Officials from these provinces stated that these women had been denied their rights to inheritance, alimony and dowry due to harmful traditions and un-Is.lam,ic practices.
They also faced mistreatment from family members. Through the efforts of the Muhtasibs, these women have now been granted their lawful rights. The Ministry reassures that it will continue, with full capacity, to address women’s rights that have been denied due to harmful traditions and baseless notions of honor. It emphasizes that no one will be allowed to engage in violent or abusive behavior against women.
It is worth noting that the Ministry’s officials have handled thousands of cases across the country related to women’s rights, including issues of inheritance, domestic violence, dowry, forced marriages (Baad), and unlawful marriages, resolving them accordingly.
