Officials (Muhtasibs) in the provinces of Badakhshan, Ghazni, Nuristan, and Jawzjan, as part of their ongoing daily activities, rescued five women whose families intended to marry them off against their will due to harmful traditional practices.

Officials (Muhtasibs) from the provincial directorates for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice stated that the families of these women had sought to force them into marriage against their wishes, in accordance with harmful customs. The Muhtasibs intervened and prevented the forced marriages

It is worth noting that officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, consider protecting women’s rights a priority and assure that no one will be allowed to violate or trample upon women’s rights.
