Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Propmotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Ghazni and Baghlan provinces have arrested two individuals on charges of deceiving people through sorcery and witchcraft, claiming to have contact with jinn, and performing un-Islamic practices and amulets, following complaints from local residents.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the two provinces say that the arrested individuals had deceived a number of people by claiming to have the ability to communicate with jinn and perform practices related to sorcery and witchcraft.

They allegedly received large sums of money in exchange for carrying out such practices.

According to the officials (Muhtasibs), after complaints were filed by local residents, the matter was investigated.

During the investigation, books and other items allegedly used in performing magical practices were also discovered.

The individuals were subsequently arrested and, after the completion of the legal procedures, referred to judicial and legal authorities.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue emphasize that promoting sorcery and witchcraft, claiming to communicate with jinn, and deceiving people through such claims can facilitate the exploitation of religious beliefs and people's problems.

They say such practices may lead uninformed individuals away from the teachings of Islam and cause religious misguidance and deviation.

Meanwhile, religious scholars and tribal elders in Ghazni and Baghlan provinces, stressing the importance of protecting the Islamic beliefs and convictions of the people, say that Muslims should refrain from consulting sorcerers and individuals who claim to possess knowledge of the unseen. According to them, the use of amulets containing polytheistic, unknown, or otherwise Sharia-incompatible content is not permissible, and people's beliefs and personal difficulties should not be exploited for personal gain.
