Prevented four cases of forced marriage involving women in the provinces of Kabul and Helmand
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Kabul, the capital, and Helmand Province, demonstrating their commitment to protecting women's rights, rescued four women whose family members intended to force them into marriage against their will due to excessive bride-price demands and harmful traditional practices.
These women were being given in marriage without their consent as a result of harmful customs and the exchange of large sums of money.
The marriages were prevented after the women submitted complaints to the provincial offices of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in their respective provinces, seeking resolution of their cases.
It is worth noting that the officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints consider the protection of women's rights to be one of their priorities and affirm that they will not allow anyone to violate or trample upon the rights of women.
