Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA,in Ghor Province in line with their commitment to protecting women’s rights, prevented the forced marriage of two women whose family members intended to marry them off without their consent due to large sums of money and harmful customs.
These women, who were being given in marriage against their will in exchange for money and under harmful traditional practices, were protected after they submitted a complaint to the provincial Department for the Promotion of Virtue seeking resolution of their case.
This comes as the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints considers the protection of women’s rights a top priority and assures that no one will be allowed to violate the rights of women.
