Raising Awareness Among Traders and Shopkeepers in Five Provinces About the Shariah Consequences of Price Gouging, Hoarding, and Short-Changing Customers
officials (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, as part of their ongoing market monitoring and awareness programs, held separate meetings with traders, shopkeepers, and economic operators in Takhar, Kapisa, Samangan, Uruzgan, and Daikundi provinces.
They raised awareness about observing Sharia rulings and guidelines in commercial transactions.
During the meetings, the officials (Muhtasibs) explained the relevant Sharia rulings and guidelines and emphasized honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, and respect for the rights of buyers and sellers.
They also urged traders and shopkeepers in the five provinces to refrain from hoarding, deceiving customers, short-changing, and fraud in weights and measures, and to conduct their business in accordance with Islamic principles and Sharia rulings.
The officials (Muhtasibs) further briefed participants on the Sharia consequences of hoarding and short-changing, stressing that protecting people’s rights and preventing fraud and deception are of particular importance in Islamic commerce.
At the end of the meetings, traders, shopkeepers, and economic operators reaffirmed their commitment to observing Sharia principles in commercial transactions and expressed their readiness to cooperate with the ministry’s officials in preventing violations and protecting customers’ rights.
