A Sorcerer Was Arrested in Nahr-e-Shahin District of Balkh Province

Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, arrested an individual accused of practicing sorcery in Nahr-e-Shahi District of Balkh Province. Several books and documents related to sorcery were seized during the operation.

The arrested individual had allegedly, over the past several years, deceived a number of residents of the province by using amulets, written charms, and claims contrary to Is/la/mic teachings, receiving large sums of money from them.

Following reports and complaints from local residents, the suspect was apprehended by the ministry’s personnel (Muhtasibs) and, after preliminary investigations, was referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further proceedings.

During the arrest, officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints in Nahr-e-Shahi District emphasized that sorcery, superstition, and deceiving people under the pretext of solving problems or fulfilling wishes through various means are unacceptable and condemned under Is/la/mic law.

They further stated that the leadership and personnel (Muhtasibs) of the ministry remain committed to preventing such practices and phenomena within society.
