Through the efforts of the Muhtasibs, six women in five provinces received their Sharia-based rights to dowry (Mahr), inheritance, and maintenance (Nafaqah)

Following the efforts and follow-up actions of officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, the Sharia-based rights of six women concerning Mahr (dowry), inheritance, and maintenance (Nafaqah) were secured and handed over to them in the provinces of Balkh, Paktika, Takhar, Farah, and Zabul.

Officials (Mutasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints in the aforementioned provinces stated that, following complaints submitted by the affected women, the cases were carefully investigated by ministry officials with integrity and in accordance with the rulings of Islamic Sharia.

As a result, the complainants’ Sharia-based rights regarding inheritance, maintenance, and Mahr were established and fully handed over to them.

Local officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints in these provinces emphasized that addressing public complaints and ensuring their Sharia-based rights particularly the rights granted to women by Islamic Sharia within the family and society are among the important issues receiving attention from the leadership of the ministry.

These measures are being carried out in order to implement the rulings of Islamic Sharia, prevent the violation or loss of individuals’ legitimate rights, and ensure justice in accordance with the principles and teachings of Islam.
