Two Individuals Accused of Witchcraft Arrested in Daikundi and Takhar
Officials (Muhtasibs) in Takhar and Daikundi provinces, continuing their activities, have arrested two individuals accused of practicing witchcraft. The two allegedly created discord and problems among families under the preparing amulets, and carried out harmful acts of witchcraft and sorcery in exchange for money.
Officials (Muhtasibs) said in connection with the arrests two individuals who were practicing witchcraft were arrested along with tools and materials used for sorcery.
They were taking money from local residents on the pretext of resolving family problems and were carrying out unlawful practices.
They will be referred to the judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.”
The enforcers stated that they would not allow anyone to carry out superstitious or un-Islamic practices in society. They also called on the public to cooperate with the enforcers in eliminating such unlawful practices.
This comes after the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing Complaints of IEA, imposed restrictions on the activities of individuals practicing witchcraft. Since then, thousands of alleged practitioners of witchcraft have reportedly been arrested and handed over to judicial and legal authorities for decisions in accordance with Islamic law.
