Six Individuals Arrested on Charges of Practicing Sorcery in Four Provinces

Following the registration and investigation of public complaints, six individuals were arrested by personnel of the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints in the provinces of Balkh, Parwan, Samangan, and Takhar on charges of engaging in acts deemed contrary to Islamic Sharia, including sorcery and witchcraft.
According to the ministry, the suspects had allegedly been practicing sorcery for several years. After receiving reports from members of the public and conducting the necessary investigations, authorities identified and detained the individuals, confiscating books and documents allegedly related to these practices.
During the arrests, ministry personnel stated that sorcery and witchcraft are contrary to Islamic principles and values, adding that such practices undermine religious beliefs and the spiritual well-being of citizens.
Ministry officials in the concerned provinces further stated that safeguarding the religious beliefs and spiritual welfare of the public remains one of their primary priorities. They added that individuals who seek personal gain through activities considered contrary to Islamic Sharia will be dealt with in accordance with Sharia principles.
The ministry also noted that, following the completion of the preliminary investigation, the case files of the accused have been referred to the relevant judicial and prosecutorial authorities in the respective provinces.
