Prevention of Two Forced Marriages and Facilitation of One Sharia-Compliant Marriage in Three Provinces

Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in Nangarhar and Takhar provinces prevented two cases of forced marriage as part of efforts to implement Islamic law and prevent injustice and violence against women.

In addition, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the ministry in Helmand province facilitated the marriage of a young couple in accordance with Islamic law and with the full consent of both parties.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the ministry in the mentioned provinces stated that these cases were investigated after receiving complaints from the affected women.

Through counseling, guidance, and awareness sessions, ministry personnel encouraged families to observe Islamic rulings, uphold women's Sharia-based rights, and respect the principle of mutual consent in marriage.

As a result, two forced marriages were prevented, and the conditions for one Sharia-compliant marriage were provided for a young couple.

Local officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints emphasized that the muhtasibs remain committed to protecting the legitimate rights of citizens especially women within the framework of Islamic law and to addressing social and family issues through peaceful and reform-oriented approaches.
