Nearly two tons of expired food products have been collected and destroyed in the markets of Jawzjan Province
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in Jawzjan Province have collected and destroyed nearly two tons of expired, substandard, food products during market inspections.
The operation was carried out to protect public health and prevent hoarding, price gouging, and fraud involving weights and measures.
During inspections of local markets and meetings with traders and shopkeepers, the ministry’s inspectors emphasized the importance of adhering to Islamic principles in commercial transactions.
They urged traders to uphold honesty, trustworthiness, and fairness in buying and selling and to refrain from supplying the public with expired, harmful, or unfit-for-consumption food products.
The inspectors stressed that endangering public health, deceiving customers, short-changing buyers, and tampering with weights and measures are contrary to Islamic Sharia principles and ethical standards. They added that violators would be dealt with in accordance with Islamic Sharia provisions.
Meanwhile, several residents of Jawzjan Province welcomed the activities of the ministry’s inspectors in promoting virtue, preventing vice, and preventing the sale of harmful, substandard, and expired food products. They also called for continued monitoring of markets across the province.
