Weekly Summary of Activities by the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints
Officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints reported carrying out extensive activities over the past week aimed at strengthening religious values, maintaining social order, promoting virtuous behavior, and preventing wrongdoing, in coordination with various segments of society.
Addressing Women’s Sh/ar/.ia Rights
During the reporting period, the ministry handled 114 cases related to women’s Sh/ar/.ia rights. Authorities prevented 58 instances of abuses injustice, reviewed 19 inheritance cases, stopped 8 forced marriages, facilitated the return of 10 dowries (Mahr), addressed 8 alimony (Nafaqah) cases, arranged 5 lawful marriages, and processed 6 divorce cases. Resolving Disputes and Conflicts
Ministry officials, working alongside religious scholars and community elders, resolved 15 cases of longstanding enmity and 79 disputes—both major and minor—among families and communities in the capital and several provinces, in accordance with Isl.am.ic principles.
Arrest of Individuals Accused of Sorcery
As part of efforts to safeguard Is.la.mic values and prevent practices deemed contrary to Sh/ar/.ia, 13 individuals accused of sorcery were detained in the provinces of Sar-e Pol, Nuristan, Balkh, Paktika, Takhar, Kabul, and Faryab. Following preliminary investigations, the suspects were referred to judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
Economic Coordination Meetings
To combat hoarding, fraud in weights and measures, and ensure compliance with Sh/ar/.ia in trade practices, the ministry held 203 coordination and reform meetings with traders and shopkeepers across various provinces. Additionally, hundreds of kilograms of expired and low-quality food items were confiscated and destroyed.
Public Awareness and Outreach Sessions
The ministry also organized 306 public awareness and reform sessions nationwide, engaging religious scholars, community leaders, youth, and other groups. These sessions focused on promoting good conduct, discouraging harmful practices, and addressing undesirable social customs.
Overall, the ministry highlighted these efforts as part of its ongoing mission to reinforce moral standards and social stability across the country.
