Muhtasibs arrested three individuals accused of practicing witchcraft in the center of Balkh Province
Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in line with the implementation of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia rulings and the prevention of acts contrary to religious values, have arrested three individuals accused of practicing witchcraft in the Fourth and Eighth Police Districts of Balkh Province's capital.
The accused individuals were identified and detained following multiple complaints from local residents and preliminary investigations conducted by the ministry’s personnel. Authorities also recovered a number of items and books allegedly used in carrying out acts of witchcraft.
Local officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in the province stated that the detained individuals had been using practices commonly referred to as sorcery and exploiting people's religious beliefs to obtain large sums of money.
After the completion of legal procedures, the suspects were referred to the relevant judicial and prosecutorial authorities for Sh/ar/ia-based legal proceedings
