Six cases of forced marriage involving women were prevented in five provinces of the country
Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in the provinces of Nangarhar, Faryab, Balkh, Jowzjan, and Zabul, in line with implementing the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and preventing oppression and violence against women, prevented six cases of forced marriage and facilitated the lawful marriage of a young couple in Balkh province in accordance with Is/la/mic principles and with the consent of both parties.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the aforementioned provinces stated that these cases were investigated after receiving complaints from the affected women.
The ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) conducted reform-oriented meetings, guidance sessions, and awareness programs, encouraging families to observe Is/la/mic teachings, protect women's legal rights, and respect the principle of mutual consent in marriage contracts. As a result, six forced marriages were prevented, and the conditions for one lawful marriage were successfully arranged.
The ministry's officials (Muhtasibs) in these provinces further emphasized that the ministry's inspectors are committed to safeguarding the legitimate rights of citizens especially women in accordance with Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia. They added that they seek to address social and family problems through peaceful and reform-based approaches.
