Prevention of a Forced Marriage of a Woman in Uruzgan Province
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Uruzgan Province, demonstrating their commitment to protecting women's rights and preventing harmful incidents in this regard, rescued a woman whose family members intended to marry her off against her will in exchange for a large sum of money and due to harmful traditional practices.
The woman, who was being forced into marriage without her consent because of harmful customs and the payment of a substantial amount of money, was protected after she submitted a complaint to the Directorate of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the province, seeking a resolution to her case.
It is worth noting that the officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints consider the protection of women's rights to be one of their priorities and affirm that they will not allow anyone to violate women's rights.
