Three individuals accused of witchcraft were arrested during the Muhtasibs’ monitoring activities in Takhar province

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Takhar Province have arrested three individuals accused of practicing witchcraft and engaging in superstitious activities.

The ministry’s officials (Muhtasibs) said that, during the arrest, several books and objects related to magical practices were also confiscated from the suspects. According to the officials (Muhtasibs), these items indicate that the individuals had been involved in practices intended to create disputes and separation between married couples.

The officials added that, following preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals were referred to the judicial and legal authorities for further investigation and to proceed with the legal process.

Meanwhile, officials (Muhtasibs) of the Takhar Provincial Directorate for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice emphasized that witchcraft, sorcery, and seeking help from fortune-tellers or practitioners of magic are considered forbidden and improper acts under Islamic Sharia.

They said that Muslims are obliged to place their trust in Almighty Allah in all aspects of their lives and to seek lawful and Sharia-compliant means to resolve their problems.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, citing teachings from the Holy Quran and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, said that Islam prohibits Muslims from practicing magic, deception, misleading others, and causing harm to other people.

They further stated that preventing the spread of superstitions, combating deception and the exploitation of people, and raising public awareness about the rulings and teachings of Islamic Sharia are among the important responsibilities of the ministry’s officials.
